TRYOUT QUESTIONS
DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS IF MY SON PLAYED ON A TEAM LAST SEASON?

YES! All members have to sign up for tryouts if they are interested in being considered for the next season.

DOES MY SON NEED TO ATTEND ALL 3 TRYOUTS?

The purpose of the multiple dates is for our staff to get to see your son as best we can. If you cannot attend all 3 and you played Wolves this summer, that is okay.

WHAT IS THE MISSION OF THE CONNECTICUT WOLVES LACROSSE CLUB?

Our mission is simple… We train, mentor and develop serious student athletes who want to put in the hard work and effort to become top-tier lacrosse players. Our goals are to develop the players both on and off the field. Our aim is to teach them the nuances of their respective positions, while learning how to play the game as a team (i.e. developing their lacrosse IQs). We also strive to develop the players into leaders with a strong blue-collar work ethic, traits that help them develop their character both on and off the field.

IF A PLAYER CAN’T ATTEND ANY OF THE TRYOUTS WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

Sign up anyway so we know he’s interested!

WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THE CONNECTICUT WOLVES LACROSSE CLUB VERSUS OTHER CLUB OPTIONS IN THE AREA?

First and foremost, it is our staff.  We have the best in the business. While other clubs make similar claims, our staff, from top to bottom, is comprised of top notch, seasoned lacrosse veterans that have played AND coached at the highest levels of the game.  The wealth of knowledge and experience will enable the highest level of development of all of our players in the program.

As players develop in our program, our leadership’s deep relationships in the lacrosse community, allows us to recruit and retain top notch coaches for our teams, gaining entry into selective tournaments and puts our players in the best position to succeed at the next level.

While striving to be at and maintaining a high level of competition, we try our best to accommodate all families from a convenience perspective as it pertains to locations for fall, winter, and summer practices.

WHO WILL BE COACHING MY SON?

Each team will have multiple coaches.  Our Head Coaches are seasoned professionals with actual coaching experience at one or more of the youth, high school or collegiate ranks. Please check out our bio section.

HOW MANY TEAMS, AND PLAYERS PER TEAM, DO YOU PLAN ON HAVING?

We will field multiple teams for each grade and, depending on the talent level, we may only consider fielding one “AA” teams at some grades.

WHERE WILL THE CONNECTICUT WOLVES LACROSSE CLUB PRACTICE AND/OR TRAINING SESSIONS BE HELD?

During the summer we will practice/train outdoors at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, CT. In addition to GFA, in the Fall we may practice/train at Ridgefield Academy, Wakeman in Southport, and Puglio Park in Bridgeport. In the winter we will practice/train indoors at Insports Trumbull, SONO Fieldhouse in Norwalk the Danbury Dome.

WHAT KIND OF PLAYER ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for players that possess advanced skills and lacrosse IQ, exhibit a high level of athleticism and are looking to compete at the highest level. Players looking to improve each time they take the practice field who display a level of commitment, dedication, passion and desire to reach their full potential as a lacrosse player and who understands and appreciates the concept that there is no “I” in  “Team” for a reason.

HOW DO I TRY OUT FOR THE CONNECTICUT WOLVES LACROSSE CLUB?

We limit the number of players per grade trying out so spots are awarded on a first come – first served basis. To guarantee your tryout spot, you will need to register in advance via our online system available on our website. Registration will close 1 hour before tryouts begin. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted.

WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE THE TRYOUT?

We encourage everyone interested in trying out, even if you can’t make our tryout date, to register so we know you are interested. Players who missed our tryout will be considered providing they have officially registered, sent an email BEFORE the tryout letting us know they won’t be in attendance and provide us with game film and/or a strong recommendation from their youth, high school or summer coach.

DOES MY SON HAVE TO BE FROM A CERTAIN TOWN OR STUDENT FROM A CERTAIN SCHOOL TO BE CONSIDERED?

No. We are looking for the best teammates who have a real commitment to improving. Our teams typically feature a blend of student athletes from a variety of public, private and boarding schools from all of Fairfield County and occasionally beyond.

HOW WILL MY SON KNOW IF HE MADE THE CALLBACK TRYOUT AND/OR MADE THE TEAM?

All players registered will receive an email listing callbacks and players selected.

WHAT IF MY SON DOES NOT MAKE THE TEAM?

Everybody develops at different times so if your son is not selected to join a Tournament Team we would encourage him to keep working, training and try out in following years. In some limited instances we may provide an option for your son as an alternate or practice player.  Wolves Lacrosse Club provides clinics, camps as well as small group and private lessons and we would welcome your son’s involvement and the opportunity to train them.

IF I MAKE THE TEAM THIS YEAR DO I HAVE TO TRY OUT AGAIN NEXT YEAR?

Yes. Open tryouts occur every year.

WHAT TOURNAMENTS WILL WOLVES LACROSSE ATTEND?

We have not finalized the tournaments for summer 2021 yet. While the actual tournaments are TBD due to COVID-19, our 2022, 2023 and 2024 teams will play in 4 tournaments, our 2025 through 2028 teams will play in 3-4 tournaments, and our 2029, and 2030/31 teams will play in 2-3  tournaments. Teams will be placed into tournaments based on talent level, competition, exposure, destination and convenience. The season will commence with a mini-training camp after the CONNY season for the youth, and after the high school season for high school kids to develop team chemistry and concepts.

WHAT ABOUT CONFLICTS WITH OTHER FALL/WINTER SPORTS?

Where a conflict exists, our multi sport athletes will be exempt from having to attend their scheduled CT Wolves Lacrosse practice and/or competition in the fall / winter. We encourage each of our players to be multi sport athletes and we will make every effort to schedule our training and competition dates to avoid conflicts with other sports and rec/town team participation. Full participation in the ‘summer’ season is expected.
